Like most of you, I took down all of my Christmas decorations over the long weekend and was left with a semi-empty feeling house. That does happen to everyone, right? I really loved our tree, our decorations and the fullness in the house this year and was sad to take it down. On the other hand, it sure is nice to clean up and get things tidy again! I will probably spend spare time in January de-cluttering again and organizing drawers, cabinets etc. In an effort to kick off that I decided to paint our relatively boring cork board that is in our laundry room. The laundry room connects the garage to the house and we walk in and out of this room countless times a day, so I would like to clean it up. Here is it on the wall. Next on the list, paint that wall!
I forgot to take a before picture with all of the clutter on it, but you get the picture. I thought we could use a little "punch" in the laundry room. I started off by spray painting the frame in Krylon Gold.
Ta-da, already looking brighter! I love anything with a touch of gold. Since I have been loving stripes in a big way, I decided to paint the cork part in stripes! You ladies are smart enough to know how to paint stripes, but the simple details are that I measured the inside of the cork and found that 6 stripes would work in this space (I wanted wide and several repeats). I painted section by section and peeled off the tape when it was still wet to ensure a clean edge.
I used acrylic paints in White and Gray Wolf by Martha Stewart.
I do love the quality of her acrylic paints!
So, here it is all finished. I took it outside because the angle in the laundry room is hard to capture.
I think I ended up with a much more interesting wall! What do you think?!
Because I like little bits of inspiration I hung onto this little card that came with a package from Tory Burch over Christmas.
I think this is a great place to display my Lilly calendar. Isn't it adorable?
I have a few pictures from our engagement night, wedding, and other fun, fun little memories of weddings....
So, that is my start of organizing for 2012! Can I just say that all of your comments on my last post made my day/week too? Y'all are the best!! Have a wonderful Wednesday!! xo.
