Garage Addition Planning
One thing that was always in the plans was to build a garage to our two story colonial. After living with out one for three months, its safe to say we are definitely garage people and miss having one so much! {Our last house had a carport, exterior storage room and shed...which worked fine but we much prefer a garage!} We have worked with a few different builders now to get estimates and are hopefully getting close to where we want to be. Not only am I excited about having a garage again to hide our junk, but I am also looking forward to the landscaping around it! I think it will be the perfect way to put our "touch" on our backyard. Due to the way our lot and house is set up, there will be a breezeway that connects the house to the garage. Here is what I have been daydreaming about, found on my pinterest board "exteriors"....

Big Boy Room Update
We are finally starting to get some things accomplished for Weeks' Big Boy room, which feels so nice. That is totally necessary in order to get the nursery empty enough to start on it. I feel like we are really behind and it's time to kick things into high gear!
First off, I hit some snags. The one inch check that I fell in love with was backordered until late February and I patiently waited. Then it was changed to early March. Then mid-March. Then pushed all the way back to mid-May! Ok, so that just won't work. I also tried searching everywhere I knew how for this fabric and it was out across the board.
Onto plan B. I decided I would go with the smaller 1/8" check in the same colorway. While it isn't quite what I imagined, I still love a tiny gingham and I'm hoping these things work out the way they are supposed to! The fabric arrived this week and it is my goal to get them done this weekend. I had planned on having them made but I have decided on a fairly simple, relaxed style and it makes more sense for me to do it instead of paying and waiting...
When I was ready to buy the rods, the West Elm version I originally fell in love with was sold out, now it appears to be back in stock {go figure} so I frantically searched for something similar. I stumbled upon this simple rod and didn't even realize how similar it was until I placed them right next to each other. I have ordered the look for less, and hope it works out. The main difference to me is the finish, but it is so hard to tell shopping online anyway what either will look like in person. If the less expensive version doesn't work, I will just go back and order the original! They should be arriving soon.
Weeks got his new sheets, duvet cover and comforter for his birthday! Now all we need is his bed! His dresser {my Dad's old chest on chest} will be getting moved from Raleigh in the next few weeks, hopefully.
Once we have these big things in place I really feel like we can sort the rest of it out, get things in place and see what else needs to happen.
I also have had the Ikea rast hack finished for several weeks now, but I am waiting to have the drapes hung for the reveal! It turned out sooo good and I love. Definitely worth a little effort to get the campaign look!
Keep your fingers crossed for me that the drapery panels will go smoothly this weekend!
xo.

Big Boy Room Plans
The time has come y'all...I can't believe my little baby will be transitioning over to a Big Boy room! I have thoroughly enjoyed his sweet little nursery for the last three years, and I want to give him an equally as special "Big Boy" room. Things are kind of up in the air because he will be totally switching rooms into the larger size bedroom, and that room is currently full of our stuff, other furniture, odds and ends. I am chipping away at it little by little to make room for him, his clothes{so many!}, toys {even more!}, and his furniture that we will be using. If I make one more trip to the thrift store to donate...whew! ;)
Here is what I have come up with so far:
duvet cover // maritime sheet set // campaign hardware // navy blue check fabric // magnet board // storage bins // metal rod
As you can see, a mix of patterns and some gold and neutral tones. The check will be the drapes, with a brass rod and I am oh-so-excited about those. Side note, if you have sourced a ready made drape in a 1 inch navy check, holler at your girl. It would be so much easier than getting them made or making them myself, by all means. I am so smitten with those sailboat sheets and I can see that sweet mop of blond curls on them now! The chambray will be the duvet cover...so classic boy to me. I think my brother might have had a chambray comforter growing up? If you follow me on insta, you saw the Ikea rast campaign sneak peek. I love that this will be a great source of storage. Weeks also has a three shelf bookcase that I would like storage bins to line it and be filled with his toys. The numbers are cute, right? A fun magnet board at his height will be super sweet.
Not pictured are his bed, dresser, and possible nightstands; which will be a mix of white and wood tones. Stephen is planning on building Weeks a double bed, something sort of farmhouse style. We haven't begun that project yet. The dresser I am hoping to get from my parents- my Dad's old dresser that he isn't using anymore. It is a classic chest on chest style and I hope that works out. We also have a nightstand from the nursery we can bring in as well, with a fresh coat of paint.
That is it so far but I am loving the direction we are headed! So much to do, but I am so excited about this room for our darling boy.

Blue + White Tablescape
Last weekend we hosted a surprise party for my mother-in-law's 60th birthday. It was so much fun and we definitely have some good memories from a special night celebrating. Since she loves blue and white {and pink!} I thought that putting together a coordinating tablescape would be perfect for her. I pulled out lots of my blue and white jars and vases as my starting point. I knew our grocery stores would be hit or miss this time of year with a decent selection of pink flowers so I ordered a variety of roses, hydrangeas, tulips and greenery all within a set budget from my favorite florist. I ended up lucking out and grabbed as many pink bundles of tulips as I could from the grocery store to add to the mix. Here is how it all turned out!
You can see a sneak peek of the new dining room set up as well. {This was our former den} and the old dining room is now a play room for Weeks and future baby sis.
I set out a tablecloth with a subtle weave of sparkle {TJ Maxx find on clearance!} on each table in the dining room, and kitchen {below} to dress things up a bit.
Our kitchen island got a tablecloth as well and I let the straws and crystal glasses be the focal point instead of adding more flowers.
This is Weeks' playroom with a little Valentine decor as well.
We had a great time at the party, and with the help of all her wonderful friends we had a delicious food setup as well. Hope you enjoyed some Spring tablescaping inspiration. I cannot wait until flowers like these are readily available at the grocery stores and in my back yard!

Design Idea: Sansevierias
I know you've probable seen or heard of the "snake plant" but I had a really had a hard time letting the word "snake" be in a title on my blog, so I went with the scientific name! No, we aren't talking about the nasty creatures though, just a little way to purify your air indoors and add a touch of green. I'm sure you've seen them around the web, but they are an up and coming little popular plant. Maybe the next fiddle fig? I don't know. But I do love them in these rooms and I purchased one as well.
We planted ours last weekend and I literally haven't touched the thing since and it looks great. Snake plants or "sansevierias" are known for being an extremely easy indoor house plant to take care of. They can take low levels of light, drought and be neglected for weeks at a time. They also remove toxins from the air such as formaldehyde and benzene. Sounds like the perfect houseplant right?
I put ours right next to our fireplace. Every now and then I can get a whiff of the fireplace when I walk by it because the former owners legit used the thing, even with a wood stove. We haven't used it and have had it cleaned a few times. Since I have put the snake plant next to it, I haven't noticed the smell. Pretty cool! Do you have one? What is your favorite house plant?
Also~ if you follow me on instagram (@missdixie30) you saw that we had a little scare with Stephen...to make a long story short he is having his gallbladder removed tomorrow morning. He had started having some really bad pains (mainly in the middle of the night) and that started rounds of bloodwork...an ultrasound...which led to an MRI. Thankfully, he just needs to have the surgery which is really common. We appreciate all your support and prayers so much already and as we have the surgery tomorrow!! Thank you, thank you!!! xoxo.

Blue and white for days...
Ain't no shame in my game, I am a true lover of blue and white. It not only applies to my home, but also my wardrobe. Blue and white is such a classic look and one that I can reach for in my closet for an easy, well put together style. I rounded up some of my current favorites in this tried and true colorway...heck this may even become a regular occurrence because it was that fun to browse!
peplum top / seaport plaid top / vintage scarf dress / wrap front blouse {more colors & on sale!} / double happiness jar / vase / acanthus pillow {on major sale!} / knob / towels
I also have my eye on this happi coat...adorable. Wouldn't these be such cute bridesmaid gifts?
Any fun plans for your weekend? I had to miss out on a shower and bachelorette party tomorrow night for my sweet sister-in-law to be so I'm a little bummed. It was just too far and a stretch for my little family for me to make it all that way. Instead, I will probably be working around the house and still catching up on things. Tough call but I know its the right thing for us after just being gone a whole week! Did I mention Weeks got car sick on our way home? Now THAT was a fun mess to clean up in the middle of nowhere! Poor buddy! Anyway, I hope your weekend is wonderful! xo.

Design Idea: Add Some Green!
I know I'm not reinventing the wheel here, but in honor of Spring I wanted to feature some rooms that do a beautiful job adding a touch of nature. I looked back at all of the photos, and each room would really be missing something with out that natural element. Don't you think? I mentioned last week I feel like a crazy plant lady with all my house plants, but maybe not so much anymore. You wouldn't know the time of year these photos were taken, but they feel just as fresh as Spring. Am I right? Go get yourself a houseplant!

Design Idea: Decorate Your Stairs
I mentioned a few days ago how excited I was to finally have a staircase to decorate for Christmas. I know, seems a little silly. But, I have always enjoyed seeing how people decorate their staircases for the holidays, so I am excited to be able to do it myself this year. As luck would have it, looks like I really enjoy the real and natural look to the garland. I'm quite sure that is the expensive stuff. You know, the kind you don't have to cover up with a million ornaments and bows. So if anyone has the lowdown on nice garland that isn't outrageous go ahead and let me know, pretty please! Ps- my favorite look of all of the above is the last one. I love those pretty bows. Not sure that will be the look I go for with a tricky bookcase/tv cabinet underneath but it sure is a beauty!
And, don't forget to link up with us tomorrow for the first linkup of My Favorite Things. An awesome way to get some ideas flowing for Christmas...I love seeing other roundups for gift guides. Such a great way to scour the internet for deals/items I may not ever see!
