Halloween

Happy Halloween Y'all!

The highlight of my night will be dressing my little guy up in his precious little costume. I cannot wait to see him in it! As far as our other plans for tonight, we've decided to cook beef briscuit tacos from a new cookbook I am trying out. Everything looks sooo good in it, I am looking forward to sharing! Of course, we will be passing out lots of candy to all of the trick or treaters. Hope everyone has a safe and fun time tonight! Trick or treat!

Fall Porching

It's finally quite enjoyable to spend some time outside these days. I hope we get to enjoy cool days for a while before we jump straight to winter! We cleaned up our porch a bit to make it even more enjoyable for fall. The porch tends to collect lots of random items like gloves, plant tags, towels for wiping the dogs feet, random leaves and dirt, bugs, gardening shovels etc. So it's nice to spend a little time cleaning it up and making it fit for entertaining! Which we do so much of these days- haha.

Lantern: Ikea

PS- See our new fence in the back yard!?

Pillow covers: Pottery Barn
I bought these on sale at the end of summer. I simply slipped them over my summer outdoor pillows to save on expense and storage space! I wanted something more neutral with some black to go through winter and these were the ticket.

Blue Herb Pots: Anthropologie
I also found these on sale at the end of summer, I'm not sure if they are still available in stores. I saved my rosemary from my summer herb pot and it is still going strong. I kept things simple with a few mini pumpkins to add some fall flair.

I spray painted some rims of pots last Spring, as seen on the left. I love the way the clay pots are weathering. I absolutely love coleus, with the bright green and burgundy!

I feel like each year there is a perfect time as to when you plant your fall pots- at least in this kind of climate. It was still really warm when we planted ours in early September, but we kept them watered really well. The mums were planted a little later and didn't bloom out as much as I hoped, like last year. I'm so happy with the other pots though I don't mind at all.

Happy Fall Y'all!

Fair Fun

We navigated our way through the crowds for the first time with a stroller and babe in tow- success! it just me or do people just walk way too slow at the Fair? #petpeeve. We took a little breather in a familiar spot where we used to visit Stephen's Grandma when she volunteered so Weeks could eat. It was so nice to get out of the crowds. It was pretty sunny so he got to wear his shades and he seriously loved them, if you can't tell!

Our best family photo. Weeks couldn't take his eyes off of the fried food stand next to us!

Extremely good ham biscuit. Worth every calorie.

On our way home on Sunday afternoon....
I keep catching him sticking his lower lip out when he's napping.
Pretty much the cutest thing ever.

When we got home I took Weeks outside on a blanket. He loved looking up at the sky and all around, it was so adorable!

Hope you had a great weekend!

Five On Friday: 10.25.13

Avocado Fries
Because everything is better fried? Well that's not really true, but these however do look good, real good. For the recipe and really cute blog go here

I was laughing from the first line of the post from back in March..."So, Fat Tuesday is here…and after stepping on the scale this morning I can tell you that Fat Tuesday it is indeed."

I love it when you find a new blog and immediately love the opening line!

The State Fair
Speaking of fried foods, I will be getting my fair share {haha jokes} this weekend. We are taking little Weeks to his first of many State Fairs. Stephen loves the fair. It's in his blood. In fact, his Grandma is being honored and remembered at the Lions Club where she volunteered for many, many years making biscuits. If you want to have a good tear, just watch this sweet video.

We sure do miss Grandma. You can bet I will be indulging in a ham biscuit for her!

New Jammies For Me
On Wednesday I showed you my favorite jammies for the little man, but I also have some new ones! I am obsessed with these soft, pretty pj shorts. I love the floral pattern and I love the pretty blue.

Soup Season
Made my first batch of White Chicken Chili and the temps are finally feeling like fall! Win, win.

Loving this quote and print...
a great reminder for this time of year especially.

These are my favorite little set of jammies Weeks has had so far!
I love these little monsters, made by Carters!

Love his expression in this one!

And I know these aren't PJs but I had to share this photo of him with his golden retriever buddies....

Head over to The Good Life and The Tichenor Family to link up your minis!

Tailgate Menu Number Four: Best Ever!

Our last tailgate was hands down, my favorite tailgate so far. Our game was at 3:30 and we opted to have a late light lunch tailgate and then dinner at halftime. The weather finally cooled off around here, and even though it rained a little bit, we really enjoyed being outside.

The Menu: Part 1
Babyback Ribs
Loaded Baked Potato Dip with Potato Chips
Champagne Toast (always fun!)

The ribs were perfect for a late lunch {good job Mom!}, and the baked potato dip was a great complement. The best part was this whole meal was prepared ahead of time so all we had to do was set it out- no prep at all once we arrived!

Loaded Baked Potato Dip
Warning, this dip is addictive. All of your favorite baked potato toppings in a dip. The recipe suggested using waffle fries (the potato part) to dip, but we made it simple with a few different kinds of potato chips. So good!

The Menu: Part 2
-Chili Bar-
Chili, Grilled Hot Dogs, Tortilla Chips, Shredded Mexican Cheese, Sour Cream

We started out with the idea of a big batch of my Mom's chili and then the rest stemmed from there.
Did you ever have Chili Chips and Cheese back in the day at Wendys? I remember we used to get it on our way home from church for lunch and it was so good. So we decided to recreate that goodness for those who wanted to snack. While we were at it, we threw in hot dogs to keep the guys nice and full. It was so nice to have the option for so many different meals: a bowl of chili, chili dog, or my favorite, chili chips & cheese!

{Artist T so soft and comfy, Tassel Scarf- my new favorite!}

Happy Tailgating!

Beanie Baby

Enough said, beanie found here.

Shopbop Lovin

Made these babies mine. I was so very pleasantly surprised that I could use my Amazon Prime membership in conjunction with Shopbop. I was able to get these to my door step in two days, as with my Amazon membership. That is awesome! I haven't bragged on Amazon Prime before, but it is really awesome. I love the convenience of having things delivered in just 2 days, especially when I don't make tons of trips to big box stores anymore.

Also, absolutely loving my new jeans already!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

That is quite a long name for a piece of bread, right? I saw it posted on Keep Calm and Carry On yesterday and wasted no time in making it. I was sold when I saw that the recipe suggested you slice and freeze individual slices for breakfast or a snack. I would have to agree, it is perfect for that! Find the recipe here!

Thursday Jam Session
Yesterday, while I was making my pumpkin bread I turned on my itunes library- something I haven't done in so long! I kept the songs playing until bedtime and it was awesome. Stephen had rotary club after work, so Weeks and I fixed dinner, hung out and he enjoyed eating peach cobbler (his dinner treat, he had a flu booster shot yesterday). I was having so much fun listening to my old songs that I even warned Stephen when he got home that any sports would have to be watched in his office to not interfere with my jams ;) There is something therapeutic about playing all of your old music that you haven't listened to in forever! I was loving on some OAR, Jack Johnson, Journey and The Fray yesterday.

Pizza Night
I mentioned this a few weeks ago but it was SO good I had to share again. We opted for pizza night yesterday and it did not dissapoint. Half cheese/half fig and prosciutto!

And of course, linking up! Happy Weekend!

My Not So Green Smoothie

A little late to the party, but I finally gave the green smoothie a go!

I followed this diagram....

(I had a hard time sourcing this correctly)

And picked the following to try for the first time:

-Spinach
-Banana
-Raspberries
-Vanilla Nonfat Yogurt

The verdict:
Loved the way it tasted!
The color, not so pretty. In fact, it wasn't green at all. I followed the proportions correctly but I think the raspberries changed the color. I couldn't believe how there are 2 cups of hidden spinach in there. Totally can't even tell in the slightest. I would have a hard time eating 2 whole cups of spinach in a salad, so this is major! I just prefer my salads in smaller portions, I don't love to eat a gigantic salad.

The second day I made the smoothie I upped the spinach a little and went a little less on the raspberries and yogurt. I actually preferred it this way (and the color was a little more green!) I kept Stephen's with more raspberries since he was still a little uneasy he was having a "salad fruit smoothie" for breakfast.

My only concern is that it seems rather expensive compared to my usual breakfast! That breakfast, as in cereal, granola, yogurt etc. We got 4 smoothies out of one bag of frozen raspberries, one container of spinach, one large container of yogurt, and one bundle of bananas (with a few to spare). Any tips on that? Do you make green smoothies and what is your favorite combo?
