Living Room Pillows: Debate and Help

Living Room Pillows

This room continues to give me fits- does anyone else have a room like that? Here is an update on the status since I showed you this last time:

I went back and forth with the pillows in the first design and they just didn't feel like me. In my mind, I want a neutral palette but every time I look for throw pillows I am leaning towards color and pattern. As much as I want neutral I guess I just crave color!? Right now, I am really happy with the above pillows. The one must is the leopard- I guess since we are approaching fall it just feels right. The green velvet is a stretch for me, but maybe it could be a lumbar pillow for just a touch. I'm also thinking ahead towards Christmas and how that will play out. I adore the pink linen and greek key, don't you? So, so pretty

In other news, I ripped that jute rug out of the house on Wednesday. {See here for my post on the rug debate} I literally could not stand the shedding, the dogs wallowing in it and all that mess. It just seemed...dirty. Yuck. Even though bare floors are not ideal, it feels so much fresher and I think it will be motivating for finding a new rug. I am leaning towards an indoor/outdoor rug. It doesn't sound as cozy as a nice plush rug but it sounds ideal for our family and two dogs {that like to ruin my rugs}!

As soon as I can get toys cleaned up for 5 minutes I will take some real time pictures for you all. Do you have any great sources for pillows? What are your thoughts on my combination?
Have a wonderful weekend!

Our Summer Porch

Welcome to our summer porch!

Ahem. I realize we are now approaching fall.

Stephen and I treated ourselves to a new swing and table set for our Anniversary this year. I bought this set locally, but I know they are available in tons of outdoor furniture shops. I wanted a set that didn't require a custom cushion like many of the thick cushions you see at Home Depot, Lowes etc. Since we live at the coast, our cushions may only last one season and those bad boys are way too expensive to replace/recover! These are a box edge set in canvas white. I'm hoping I can squeeze a few seasons out of them. Since these are white, I can always switch up pillows and mix it up for fall!

-the potting bench-
Updated with a starburst mirror and foxtail fern.
I have loved using this to cut flowers all summer!
It's perfect for bringing in vegetables too.
I would like to add some blue and white planters to this scene in the future- but I'm waiting for a good deal.

This is actually a "bistro set" which I like because the chairs are comfortable enough for just hanging around, relaxing with out having to feel like you are sitting in a seat made for a table. But when we do want to eat outside- which we have done many times- it is nice to have the table for two! The table looks smaller in the picture than it really is, we can comfortably fit dinner for two {plus Weeks in the future!} here. I bought the rug last year on Overstock.com. Pillows are all Surya.

This is a mix of a charger {Tuesday Morning}, our everyday dishes {Vietri} and a melamine plate from Target. I think it is the perfect mix for outdoors! For this I just wrapped two paper napkins in each napkin ring- paper is realistic for outdoors, am I right?

-Outdoor String Globe Lights-
Our newest improvement!
We love the lights- Stephen hung them with a simple eye hook.

Come sit a while- and have a glass of chardonnay with me too!

Sofa Styling

Did you all catch the article on Glitter Guide about sofa styling? As soon as I saw it hit my inbox I had to read further. First of all, this pink sofa is crazy amazing...why does a pink sofa not work in my house? Just kidding, I am really happy with my new white one I got for my birthday this past November! I do love the styling tips provided by Jamie of Furbish {crazy that her store is in Raleigh and I have never been!}. Here's the rundown if you missed it.

Add a textile first {love the striped below}. Start with a pair of 20" or 22" pillows on each side and add a different shape pillow in the center. Add a second set of square pillows..they can match or not. Either way you want one print that is going to tie it all together. Try to use the combination of one floral, one geometric and one striped...and mix scales. You have to go check the article out, it is a must read!

I have a thing for buying throw pillows- I change them up by season and by holidays. It's a fun and inexpensive way to keep your look updated and fresh. The next thing on my list is going to be a textile that I can add to the back of our sofa, I love that. My favorite sofas are always an effortless look, inviting with fun prints and colors. Something that looks thrown together but chic!

And, thank you all so much for your sweet comments on our engagement and pre-wedding pictures. I was unsure if I wanted to share those on here, but I am so glad I did. Thank you so, so much for making my week! Hope you all have a great Thursday! xoxo.

Get the look for less!

Morning y'all! I have always wanted to do a post on this, but I wanted to wait until I found something worth posting on, so I'm excited to bring this to you today!

I did a double take last night when I plopped the mail down and saw this cover of the latest Crate and Barrel Catalog. The pillows looked strangely familiar...

Here's the 23" raspberry pillow from Crate and Barrel, priced at $79.95.
And take a look at my bed...

Yep, same raspberry ikat pillow! I bought my 16" pillow last fall on etsy for $34.00. I know this is a smaller pillow, but it is significantly less {more than half as much} and I got "the look" for "less". The seller who sold mine is Pillow Mio, I just looked and I did not see the same pillow but the site is worth looking at for other beautiful designs. I happen to have a pillow fetish, so I'm always keeping an eye out for more!

I did a little scouring and found other pillows made from this fabric here and here, all still significantly less than Crate and Barrel. Etsy is such a wonderful resource for pillows!

Have you found any great deals lately? Hope you enjoyed! Have a great Wednesday...xo

Monogrammed Textiles

Being from the south, I always love a custom monogram. With the arrival of our new sofa {yay!! I am seriously still jumping for joy!!}, I am looking for a few new throw pillows and I thought a monogrammed beauty would be the perfect addition. Monogrammed pillows give your room an instant personal touch that I adore. While browsing around I stumbled upon some amazing other textiles that I had to include. Feast your eyes on some of my favorite monogrammed finds!

{Grey Cotton Throw}
{Coral Chevron}
{Monogrammed Placemat}
{Canvas Tote}
{Monogrammed Name}
{Elegant Turquoise}
{Grain Sack Frame Pillow}
{Striped Hand Towels}
{His and Hers Towels}
What about you, are monogrammed textiles your thing? I really cannot get enough of them!
Happy Monday! xo.
