Flowers For Your Tuesday + Photography Tip

Just bringing you some gorgeous blooms for your Tuesday! I picked these last Friday over at the beach. The hydrangeas must love some salty air and seaspray because they just look amazing and have hundreds of blooms on each plant.

I just wanted to snap a quick photo of them but once I saw how pretty they looked on my camera I kept taking more. The light was streaming in our kitchen window (major plus) but our table was cluttered (always) with magazines and some white poster board from our yard sale on Saturday. I couldn't help but notice that the white paper (especially in the first photo) bounced the light off in a really pretty way giving the prettiest glow. I didn't edit these one bit. Granted, my 50 mm lens did most of the work for me. It's my fave. I gradually removed all of the white from the table in the progression of these photos. (The top being the very first photo I took without removing any white from the table)

Below, I removed all of the white paper and magazines. While this last photo is still pretty, there is not as much glow especially on the green leafs. Just a fun idea to play with next time you want to snap some photos. PS I am no pro by any means but I do love taking pictures.

Have a wonderful day y'all!

Photo Light Box

One thing I really enjoy is photography. Truth be told, I am not the best person to read up on my manual and learn things. I am more of a trial and error shooter. I would love to take a class sometime in the future to further my knowledge on my Christmas present last year - my Canon Rebel.

I was thrilled when The LA Shop sent me a photo box light kit to review a while ago. I had the best time with it taking photos- with out a glare! I played around photographing a few small objects, like this sweet pair of madras shoes. Aren't they precious? Too bad sweet boy only got to wear them once before he grew out of them!

I have also made a few watercolor prints that I enjoyed photographing in the light box. A favorite quote of mine....
Glare free on the glass!

This is similar to the print I made for Weeks' nursery. I had several contacts about my print from the nursery post so I played around and made a few more!
If anyone is interested in purchasing it framed, it is $36 plus $5 shipping. Please email me.

The LA Shop has a ton of merchandise I don't even know where to start. Gadgets galore, I could get lost looking at those types of things for hours. And bonus, you can use code BLOGGERS for a 10% discount! PS-if you are an etsy shop owner, I think this type of thing would be so useful for accurate color of your items.

Thanks again to the LA Shop for sending me such a fun item!

A Camera / Christmas / New Years

Better late than never right? Here's a peek at our Christmas and New Years. Stephen got me a new camera and let's just say I played with that thing for two days straight! I still have a ton of learning to do but I am loving what I have picked up on so far. I haven't had time to do much editing either, but I figured you would want to see these in January rather than February.

Prepare for dog picture overload. I ended up using all of the dogs as my muse for the photos- they were fairly cooperative and I loved getting their pictures!

My sweet niece woke up briefly for Christmas photos...

Dixie wore some Christmas jammies.

And somebody fell asleep again...

Christmas Day we spent some time on the farm.

The next weekend we had a trip planned to Asheville, NC for my last long trip before the baby comes. My doctor doesn't recommend long travel after 30 weeks, I know each doctor varies on their beliefs for that issue.

The cutest gingerbread house greeted us upon our arrival. We stay at a club that my Grandparents became members of long, long ago. Now my parents are members and we love visiting with so many memories already in place.

You may recognize this tree from a recent bump pic?

A night out at the Biltmore for dinner...

New Years Eve I wore my first preggo dress!
I bought this back in November thinking I would need it a lot sooner for parties in November and early December. Stephen clearly loves his hat I made him wear ;)

If you follow me on instagram, you saw that we took my Grandma to her retirement home party after our nice NYE dinner. This was totally unexpected but totally worth it. Yes, we spent part of our New Years Eve at a retirement community! My brother made sure to tag us on facebook that we were there too, I'm sure a lot of people laughed when they saw that one. It actually ended up being pretty cute to see. My Grandma was on top of the world that we took her!

You can see the older folks exiting the party at 10 after the "ball dropped"....too much.

That pretty much sums up our holidays in a ton of pictures, are you still with me?

Also, I would love to hear your favorite photography site {user friendly for camera dummies like myself}, your pinterest board for photography tips, and any other advice you might want to pass my way!
