Inspired by White

Some of my favorite fashion photographs lately have been based around white. It is always one of my favorite colors for summer: classic and beautiful and fresh. What are you loving lately?

Coffee Table Shake Up II

I have extremely enjoyed the last several weeks and finally getting to enjoy some fruits of our labor. We have been in our home now for about 2.5 years and have been tacking on plant after plant, year after year. I have had a few questions about our hydrangeas from here and from instagram {ps,  you can find me: missdixie30}, and I have to tell you that this year is the first year these babies have bloomed like this. My mom has a ton of hydrangeas too, and hers are having a good year as well. Hydrangea lovers, be patient...give them a little time and care and they will bloom! I'm a believer now.

I have been bringing in fresh flower after flower and enjoying every bit of it. I hope you aren't tired of these pics just yet! This is one of the first groups I brought in...

The night before this next arrangement, I read Southern Living's June issue and picked up this great idea. Cut hosta leaves for a simple and chic centerpiece, even for your dining room table. I love them on our coffee table and mine lasted almost a week. Seriously, anyone can put this look together and I think everyone should.

I also added some fresh hydrangeas in my favorite Kate Spade vase.
This variety blooms shades of pink and is called a Mini Penny.

Can you tell I'm obsessed with my little TJ Maxx ceramic elephant? Are you sick of him yet?

Unfortunately, the hydrangeas didn't last as long as the hosta leaves. To keep things fresh, I tossed the hydrangeas and simply added a few of our roses to the hosta vase. The darker pink are knock out roses, and the coral is a variety I'm not sure of...a friend bought us for our anniversary last year.

This weeks variety...the blue and white hydrangea is called a peppermint twist. I bought a few of these for myself and for my Mom several years ago. They have been tiny in years past compared to what they are now. Still using the same vase as seen above {bought on sale at Pier 1 this spring}.

I mentioned in my last coffee table post I like to switch things out. I found that ikat pillow at World Market this past weekend, for 19.99. I am all about decorating for American holidays and summer, so I'm happy to see a switch towards our patriotic colors. Ps- the cheetah pillows were ordered with my sofa, but just came in a month or so ago {they have been sitting in a bag in the garage!}...silly, silly me.

So, that's the latest on our coffee table...not much else has changed around our house! I can only hope that we get to enjoy these beautiful flowers all summer long, I feel spoiled already!

Happy hump day y'all! xo.

Just Peachy

This weekend we spent a little time deep in the heart of North Carolina, and stopped by not one, but two little produce stands. If you are still buying all of your vegetables and fruit from the grocery store, I have to tell you, you are seriously missing out. I am not a huge peach fan, but these had the sweetest scent that would make anyone want to try one.
If you are in North Carolina, go buy some fresh peaches!

I love bowls of fresh fruit, such an easy way to perk up your table. I am loving these peaches in my vintage hobnail milk glass {one of my favorite collections}. Here you can see part of the view into our yard. I love looking out here every day!

I figured I might as well try and extend my wifely duties a little further and make my first peach cobbler. Not to shabby I have to say! If you are looking for an easy cobbler recipe, this is the one I used. For a cobbler novice like myself, it was simple and quick and smelled amazing.

Hope y'all had a great weekend!! xo.

Elderflower Cocktail + Weekend

We may have started our weekend a night early. I went out for a drink with my friend and was delighted to try the Elderflower cocktail on the menu. SO good, seriously. I now know what the big fuss was about. I took a photo of the board in hopes to be able to recreate it at home. (What a cute board too, the drink above it was called honey bourbon) I am all about a no fuss drink- the less ingredients the better. After cocktails, the hubs and I had dinner on the waterfront.
Fun little Thursday evening it was!

We are off to Raleigh this afternoon! Hope everyone enjoys a beautiful summer weekend! xo.

One Year Ago, Part II

After a night in Madrid, we stayed and shopped in the morning then headed to the town of Avila, where Manu {my brother-in-law} is from and where the wedding was to be held.

We loved more cute flower stands...

And we loved our little Spanish hotel...

And the modern decor with fresh flowers

Once in Avila we had family dinners every night...

We walked around the wall of Avila which is a couple miles...it was nice to stretch out and breathe fresh air after being in the city for days...

The entire city sits inside these great walls...

We had more family dinners..

And toured more...the elevation here is about what you would find in Denver!

We celebrated on the wedding eve with the bride and groom...

And showed the Spanish our best dance moves!
YMCA anyone?

The next day was wedding day! The beautiful wedding dress...

Sisters.

Mom peeking at the streets below where the cathedral was...

Dad and daughter

The happy and beautiful bride!

Heading into the cathedral...

Her something borrowed was my veil! I was so happy to see it worn again.

Cocktail hour...

During the reception... full sit down dinner that lasts for hours and hours...

Manu's father was in politics and the former (last) President of Spain attended.

The Spanish celebrate weddings into the wee hours of the morning...think about 5 am!

After a few more days in Spain we headed back to London for one more night...

And enjoyed a few more British perks...

And with that our trip was over, in a flash! I had to seriously pare down on the photos which was hard to do, so I give you lots of credit if you read the whole post! We had a wonderful time on this trip celebrating family and love {ok, maybe we wanted to pull each others hair out a few times, but thats ok} You have to love family vacations, and this one was amazing. Happy Anniversary Sara and Manu!

Happy Thursday everyone.
