Can you believe that summer is over? I really can't! I know we were wrapped up in house projects most of the summer, but we did get a few good beach & boat days in, finally. We realized yesterday that a day on the water is so much more exhausting with a toddler and two dogs than we remembered it being. I was tired all day! As much as I am sad to see one of my favorite seasons end, I always look forward to the beginning of fall. Well, usually it's like a mild version of summer for us here that I look forward to...new things like tailgating, changing out my pots, fall foods of course!!!, taking out my fall decor and rotating my closet around. I am always ready to pull on a pair of jeans about this point and grab my boots! Oh, and one of my favorite parts about fall? I love coming home at the end of the day and putting on some comfortable sweat pants and a sweatshirt. And don't even get me started on my favorite robe being acceptable for lounging in most of the day. Also, the steamy humidity and the mosquitoes...I'm over them. So, so long summer, I guess I'm ready for you fall.

Beach Time With My Bud
His curls in the sun and wind might be my favorite sight ever. And a sandy mouth!
PS- Sorry for my messy hair. That's how I roll on the beach. There is no point in trying! :)

Fall in NC
A few weeks ago we had an unexpected date night. It was a mild fall evening and just unbelievably beautiful. We only made it out on the boat twice the entire summer, so we loved getting to go for a ride and catch up on "us" time.
I grabbed my camera right before running out the door and thought I was all set for taking some gorgeous photos. Well, low and behold I pulled out my camera to snap a photo and I realized that I forgot to put the batteries back in my camera. So I had a camera with no batteries and of course for about an hour we watched a beautiful October sunset and dolphins upon dolphins upon dolphins playing in the sound. So we took selfies instead!
Fast forward to yesterday...we had the strangest weather all weekend. Saturday and Sunday we woke up to a heavy fog and after it burned off we had warm, sunny days. So warm, that we took the boat to lunch yesterday with this little guy. I was dreading the life jacket debacle because it didn't go so well the last time. But he did great, such a good sport as usual.
After lunch he was wiped out and snoozed the entire way home. By the way, he totally has his Mommy's hair. Once it hits that humidity- bam, curls! My hair looked similar, but it's really cute on him- me not so much!
Hope y'all had a fantastic weekend!

Summer Sunday
Tell me he's not a mini surfer stud
Summer is finally here. Finally, I tell you. Back when I found out I was pregnant I had this vision that my newborn baby and I would spend most of our time outside in the early summer {me in the sun, baby shaded and napping}. It hasn't really been quite that outcome, much to my surprise ;) We spent a few hours on the beach yesterday and it was so nice. The beach is just therapeutic. Even if hauling our junk is the equivalent to a normal workout, it's all good.
It was our first time trying out a swim diaper {whoa now!} and baby sunscreen. Not pictured is his really cute hat that got taken off in the car seat after a tantrum. Poor little guys eyes are closed in all the pics from the sun! That and he might have still been upset from dipping his toes in the ocean, that wasn't his favorite moment. If you have baby beach recommendations I would love to hear them! Yesterday went pretty smoothly and I will share my tips soon.
How was your weekend? xo.

Baby's First Beach Day / Weekend Pictures
Here's a shot of my cool baby ready for summer time, enjoying lunch outside. He actually sported his little shades with pride- too much for me to handle!
A big smile for Mommy and Daddy. Melts me. How cute are his jammies? My Mom brought them this weekend and I think they are my favorite to date.
I took Dixie on our first solo walk since Weeks was born. Sweet girl has been a trooper, she loved getting some one on one time on the beach!
A family photo before our wedding on Saturday night. It's so hard to leave your baby at home! I know he was in great hands with his Mimi and Pop Pop though.
It wasn't quite warm enough for a real beach day, but Weeks did get to put his toes in the sand for the first time. I cannot wait for beach days with this little one!
Wishing you a great day- Thank you for all of your sweet comments on our newborn photos!!

Beach Morning + Friday Finds
This is how Miss Dixie and I started off our morning. A quick little walk {for me}, run/play/chasing birds {for her}. Hopefully, I will do this the next two mornings as well to soak up a few more late summer beach days.
A few other things for your weekend....
How delicious does this Cinnamon Pull Apart Bread look? Someone please make it. I've never attempted to make bread before, I just enjoy eating it :)
I ordered this dress and this top in navy from Gap this week. I guess I am loving on some navy stripes! I am excited to wear this transitioning into fall with boots. It has a really cute zipper detail on the shoulder and is a great weight. Dresses and boots are a must here since it stays warm well into fall.
AND, 25% off your purchase right now, good finds y'all!
And lastly, enjoy your weekend friends!!
XOXO.

Birthday + House Boat Fun
We kicked off the birthday celebrations Thursday night for dinner out at one of our favorite restaurants...
Stephen was excited, yet a little "iffy" about the house boat stay I planned for us. He worried about the details like having the right weather. I told him I had no choice, I planned this about a month ago so I had to hope for the best weather possible. It ended up being one of the most gorgeous days of the summer, we could not have been any luckier!
We met up with some friends boating Sunday afternoon before residing back at our home for the night. Once we got back we wanted to enjoy one more swim before cleaning up.
Obligatory canonball. This picture cracks me up!
Of course I did not do a cannon ball. I played it safe and just jumped and screamed.
Boat snacks were fresh guacamole dip {mouth watering amazing} I made in just a few minutes.
Yep, we ate the chips straight outta' the bag.
It was still really hot sitting on the porch below, so we headed to the roof! I assured my parents that the roof is in fact, made for company.
The built in ladder gets you up there and then you get to enjoy pure bliss.
Curly hair gone wild! It was just the two of us so these shots are the only version we have.
Warning: if you get bored with pictures of sunsets, you should not read any further. The highlight of our night was watching this incredible sunset though, so hopefully you will take a peek! ;)
The sun sinking low...
We planned an easy meal for dinner: homemade pasta salad and brats on the grill. We wanted to enjoy as much time outside as possible, which ended up being the perfect plan. Later on, another boat nearby shot off fireworks, an unexpected treat!
To cap off the night, we made s'mores!
And we were up at sunrise the next morning. Major feat for myself.
It was such a fantastic getaway and we are already planning the next time we can do this again.
Thanks for reading along for our little adventure! xoxo.
