Bahamas: Part 1

First things first, let's have a little laugh. I am not the worlds best flyer and when we walked out {note, walked out} on the tarmac and saw a prop plane for our first flight, I wasn't too thrilled. Somebody left out that detail, ahem. I was texting my Dad and he was researching the aircraft and reassuring me as our pilot was warming up(?) the propellers. I had to take a photo only after we safely landed in Charlotte :)

Cruising above the islands...

We landed in Nassau, had lunch outside, and after a quick phone call to my Mom, I realized it was time to order my first Goombay Smash of the weekend. This is the signature drink when you visit the Bahamas and it is delish.

Happy campers enjoying the sun and our company in the Bahamas!
Recognize that necklace? Yep, I wasted no time in wearing it. I also picked up the hot pink cardigan from Ann Taylor Loft which is a great weight and I think I could appreciate one in every color. Oh, and those are new Tory Burch shades, courtesy of TJ Maxx. I was stalking it before I left determined to find the perfect pair!

We headed out to the beach for the afternoon to enjoy this view. I love that water color, don't you!?

Since we were in Nassau, we were close to the cruise ships....like, hello close! We thought it would be fun to watch them come and go but we actually didn't end up seeing that happen.

Would you believe me if I told you this is the only beach picture I have of us from this trip? Better believe it, the weather wasn't in our favor all weekend!

For dinner, we headed over to Paradise Island to visit Atlantis, where some of our very good friends were actually visiting for a business convention. Atlantis is quite a sight to behold!

Pausing for a quick photo...and I totally wore that necklace again with a J.Crew ensemble....

Our friend and his mother are good family friends and treated us to dinner that night for our anniversary. This was our dessert, so sweet!

After dinner, we absorbed all of the money floating around the harbor. Pretty nice, right?

And we took a tour underground of all of the fish tanks...
I think we walked miles, it really goes on forever!

The next day at lunch. Not pictured, a really cute pintucked maxi skirt also from Ann Taylor Loft. I was really bad about taking full length shots by the way, sorry! The seed bead necklace is actually two necklaces- from Francescas in Raleigh.

We spent some time shopping and sat at Senor Frogs for a little while {that was hilarious!} and headed back for a little beach time, despite the clouds.

That night we wanted to try out the Graycliff lounge for a drink or two before dinner. The bartender told us he really reccommended the signature champagne cocktail. Well of course he did, we each had two and they were the most expensive drinks of our lives! Really, the bill for four drinks was staggering!

Nonetheless, this place is incredible as were the drinks and we enjoyed them to the very last drop.

A little story about my dress: it is by Amanda Uprichard and my sister {Stephanie's} friend actually works for this talented and generous designer in New York. I blogged about it a few months ago and they actually sent me this dress for free. It is my second dress given to me by her, can you believe it? She is a fabulous designer and this dress was so perfect for a trip to the islands!
Thank you again, Amanda and Allie!

Dinner at Cafe Matisse...it was wonderful and of course, I loved the Matisse artwork! This was such an enjoyable night with my sweet hubs!

The next day was cloudy with rain...not what you want to have on your vacation but we made the best of it. We headed to hang out with our friend once again, and had drinks under a cabana, yachtside at the Green Parrot Bar.

We made our way back to Atlantis to listen to a Bahamian band inside the casino. Anytime there is good music like that you cannot help but have a great time!

We didn't have enough fun at Atlantis during the day so we headed back for dinner to the Marina Village and observed more eye candy!

A quick picture at dinner with my handsome man!
And also, another not pictured cobalt maxi skirt- by Splendid and it's the most comfortable thing I have ever put on...and the price is not bad!

After dinner, we walked outside and were greeted by another band marching and dancing through the village, it was so fun and I wish I was technologically able to play the video we took!
Of course, I grabbed a band member for a photo op!

We stayed at Atlantis for some more fun in the casino before we headed in for the night!

And that's the first part of our fun jaunt to the Bahamas! :)
I hope you enjoyed it and I promise the next part won't be so lengthy! xoxo.
