Originally I planned on sharing a DIY project from the room in our house we lovingly refer to as the "Man Room". But after taking some photos and asking my hubs if he was ok with the Man Room being featured on ze blog, he got excited and I decided I had to feature room first, DIY later. This room was added on to our floor plan when we were able to tweak a few things here and there with our builder. At first we thought Stephen could have an "office" at home but we quickly learned that the desk/office set up was a waste of space and the room was much better suited as a sitting room.
Yes, this room holds a whole lotta man stuff. The deal was that if he got a room to hold all these "things" then I could do as I wished with the rest of the house. Fair deal I think!
This is an antique bench I found at the Asheville Antique Tobacco Barn last November. {If you are in NC and haven't been, go now!} I knew I didn't have the perfect spot for it but I loved the cowhide and couldn't resist.
This is the wall opposite of the chairs, another antique piece housed chock full of arrowheads, baseballs, bottles, baseball cards...you name it. The room actually doubles as a small museum ;)
I made this sign for him for Christmas last year out of an old board from his Grandmother's barn. I had seen the exact sign in an antique store which was hundreds of dollars and read "Stephens" instead of "Stephen's" so I decided to replicate it myself! He is a BBQ connoisseur.
The room may seem a little crowded in these pictures, but it sure is cozy. We spent a lot of nights last winter eating at that table in front of the TV in this comfy little room.
This piece hangs on the wall opposite of the window- a pen and ink drawing of our sweet boy done by Stephen's brother!
And, here is the DIY I will tell you about next week!
Now that I've shown you this room, I want to show you the inspiration behind it.
-Hanging more art/framed pieces we already have in the room to the likes of the inspiration photo
-Paint interior of tv cabinet
-Drapes
-Possibly convince my husband to organize and consolidate items on the bookshelves
-Lighter fabric for the pillows since recovering the chairs is not a huge priority right now
What do you think? Does your man have his own man cave as well?
I have to say, I do like this room and the colors and overall mood is quite cozy.
And, he has done a pretty fine job of arranging all of his artifacts and cards and bottles if I do say so myself!
xoxo.

Ok, I love that sign that you made! And of course, the ink drawing. I seriously need one of those of Sherm. Such a great room ... I will not be showing this to Dan. ;)
Easy to see why he was excited for you to show off his space, Katie. So thoughtful of him to offer up the rest of the house for just one little room. ha!
My husband would be so envious, and I agree he did a great job 'styling' his treasures! Amazing bench and sign!
I love the chairs! I definitely think switching up the pillow covers would transform their look. Lovely!
First - that drawing from your hubby's brother is amazing!!!! I really like his man room - I won't be showing my hubby b/c he would be super jealous!!!
Bravo Katie! I would kick Stephen out and hang in there myself if I could! I love it!!
It looks great! I love the sign especially.
You're right; it definitely looks very cozy! When you showed the light I figured that you had a project in mind for that!
I love cozy spaces where you can just hang out. Maybe you guys can compromise on some stuff.

My husband would be so envious. We have an apartment right now with no man room and he insist that will be the first room that gets completed when we get a house lol. xo
This is amazing! In our first house, Kev had a great man basement, then in our second it was a Man-office, and now, it is a man garage. Hopefullly in our next move, we will live in something with more room and we can do something like this. I love it!
Bryce and I have also agreed that once we're married as long as he has "his space" I can do whatever else I please with the house. The first thing you currently see when entering his house is a huge cabinet full of duck decoys, arrowheads, and other trinkets--I can't wait for him to have a room to store all that stuff down the road, hehe!
