Five On Friday: New Must Haves and Other Ramblings

One. Beautiful new shoes....major deal!! I ordered these shoes last week from Nordstrom, hoping to be able to wear them this coming weekend. Sizing said order size up, and I was a little skeptical. Usually I go somewhere between a 7.5 and an 8, so I ordered a 9...which totally didn't seem right. Sure enough, they arrived and were too big. However, I jumped on Amazon to see if I could get them Primed in my correct size and was pleasantly surprised to find them HALF OFF. These mules are beautiful, seem so well made and are the perfect way to jump on the trend for this season! I love that there is a tiny heel for us short girls!! Prices slightly vary with each size in this color from what I see at the moment! Snag them now y'all!

Two. Say hello to my new rug. It's quite fitting around here, am I right?

Three. We are headed to our first football game of the season tomorrow! Our plan is to have burgers on pretzel rolls from the new Lidl store (the pretzel rolls are SO good) and hotdogs, and keep it simple with chips and veggies and ranch dip. I love a good tailgate!!

Four. My very favorite sunglasses are on sale today and I continue to get people asking me who makes them! They are my favorite pair I've ever owned. I do need an alternate pair for when I can't locate these in the bottom of my purse or diaper bag, or car, etc. I was thinking about these, also on sale today! (You can shop everything on Shopbop 20-25% off today only!) Some other faves: kind of want a pair of levis(!!) for weekending but I've also been eyeing this pair of J. Brand. I also love this Tory bag for it's size and structure!

Five. We went to an outdoor wedding last weekend and I knew my hair had to be up because humidity and heat. Somehow, I managed to make it look halfway decent and I still can't believe it. The secret is lots of pinning and lots of holding a mirror and twisting your hair with the other hand ;) I started out by separating the top half of my hair from the bottom (around the ears) and pinned the bottom half into a loose bun. Then, for the remaining top half I teased it a little for volume, then I twisted and pinned until everything was in place. DIY hair y'all!

PS- Some of you all loved my hair on instagram stories, but some of you loved my shower curtain...it is pretty fab!

Happy Weekend!!

Linking up to Five on Friday!

Quick and Easy Taco Soup!

I made this Taco Soup on Sunday night and knew I had to share it with you guys immediately. I don't know about you all but I need more quick fix and healthy dinners in my life, and this one could be a staple for fall. I slightly modified the original recipe by substituting turkey in for ground beef to make it even lighter. I put a handful of multigrain tortilla chips on top with a dollop of sour cream. SO good y'all. And I think it took me less than 15 minutes to throw it together. I made it around 4 pm and then let it simmer on low until it was time for dinner, which made the dinner hour so much less hectic.

Ingredients:

1- 1.5 lbs ground turkey
1 packet taco seasoning
1 1/2 cups water
1 can chili beans (do not drain)
1 can corn (drained)
1 can pinto beans (rinsed and drained)
1 can stewed tomatoes (do not drain)
1 can petite diced tomatoes (do not drain)
1 packet ranch seasoning mix
(all cans are standard size cans)

toppings- tortilla chips, sour cream, shredded cheese

Directions:

-In a soup pot over medium-high heat, cook ground turkey until fully cooked. Drain. Return to soup pot and add taco seasoning and mix together.
-Add in the remaining ingredients and stir together. I broke up the stewed tomatoes with a knife before I added them in (you could also blend them).
-Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and let simmer, uncovered for 20 minutes, or longer if desired.
-Serve with tortilla chips, sour cream, and shredded cheese!

Labor Day Sales

Happy Saturday y'all! I wanted to pop in and share a few things on my radar. J.Crew is really nailing it with the casual weekend wear that is right up my alley. Stripes and navy seem perfect right now! The great news is they are offering 30% off your purchase with code YESPLEASE for Labor Day. Let's get started, shall we?

Love, love this striped button up turtleneck, I think it would be perfect with jean shorts while it is still pretty warm here, but I want to feel fall-ish.

This zip up jacket is so cute!! I would wear it with my fave leggings or jeans. Great staple piece.

I'm in love with the shade of green in this quilted jacket. The color is so rich and I've been wanting something in this color for fall!

These running shorts are on major sale- love this pretty blue!

Popping over to J.Crew Factorty, I bought this cute bell sleeve t-shirt several weeks ago and have gotten a ton of compliments on it. It's a nice weight and seems like it is a great quality.

I also got this pretty ruffled sleeve top, I haven't had a chance to wear it yet but I love a good white top. Seriously, they are closet favorites!

I know this isn't for fall but this embroidered linen top that I had this summer was on constant rotation, and was another fave. The embroidery makes it seem like it would be much more expensive than the heck of a deal pricetag that is on it right now!

Hope y'all have a great long weekend! Lots of good food and football is in our forecast for this rainy Saturday :)
