First of all, thank you SO much for your sweet comments on the "Man Room" from last week. I think the hubs really enjoyed his room being spotlighted for the day. I am going to answer a few questions some of you had from my posts from last week- so if you have any more, ask away! Truth be told, I was travelling out of town last week and I scheduled my posts in advance so I will be playing catch up for a few days here.
On to the light....I found this on clearance at Tuesday Morning for $14.99 and thought it could do me a world of good in several spaces in our home that still sport the builder grade lighting fixtures.
I knew from the start that the brassy look wasn't going to work for this light. I also love the look of orb lighting with out the glass, so the first step was to have the hubs break all of the glass out of each panel. Once that was done, I gave it a nice coat of Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint, and I was done! I have always heard great things about Oil Rubbed Bronze, and I have to say I was impressed. The metallic sheen is really pretty and looks professional.
I left the light on in the pictures so you all could see the pretty shadows its casts around the room.
Here are a few images that inspired this look:
Overall, I couldn't be happier with a new lighting fixture for less than $20 with a look I really enjoy.
Have a great Monday y'all! xoxo.

Very cool!! It looks so much better than the brass! :)
so pretty! I just can't afford to give up my ceiling fan or I would ttoally try this!
LOVE this look and what a deal!
I am currently working on the same thing for a light I picked up at Goodwill! I am using the Oil Rubbed Bronze spray too. Mine is taking FOREVER though bc the glass wouldn't punch out so I had to tape all the glass up...UGH Your light looks great though!
WOW - looks great!!!! :)
wow! Looks fabulous! xo
Have never heard of Tuesday Morning (thanks) but I am a close friend of ORB. I've been looking for lights like these for my boys' rooms (but wanted ones that didn't cost a small fortune). Awesome deal!Hope they still have some!
Looks great! I had no idea they made oil rubbed bronze spray paint! Thanks for that!
This is such a great DIY. Talk about an inexpensive piece that really packs a punch! It adds so much character to your man-room. :)
We had that same light! Obviously builder grade. LOL. I wanted to burn it! hahaha! Great idea on an update for sure! xoxo
Awesome work--I need to get ambitious and do more DIY projects like this!
You made a good purchase! Imagine, for only less than $20 dollars, you were able to grab a stunning light fixture like this! I love its design and its effects. I hope I can find and make a unique lighting fixture too.
