Forgoing Perfection and Weekend Randoms....

Oh my gosh guys...you have to read this post at The Decor Fix. It totally lit a fire behind me to stop waiting for my house to be "perfect" enough....and I'm not sure who I am trying to impress when I say I want it to be perfect. The truth is, we still have a million things on our to-do list for our house. Yes, that is part of the fun. There are big things like our master bath, all the way down to little things like replacing brass outlet covers and painting trim. Those little projects are so not the fun stuff, but the stuff we really need to buckle down and do. Those same projects are the ones that are essentially "free" at this point because we have all the supplies sitting in our work room waiting for them to be used. So, there's a great reason to get started, right? I worked on our entry way yesterday and will show you some photos of that tomorrow...and guess what, it's totally not perfect, finished or styled but it's progress!

I guess Fall really is right around the corner. In my mind, Fall starts September 1...so ready or not! I picked up these baby sunflowers and a mixed bouquet at Lowes Food yesterday, and love how this little arrangement turned out. I hope they keep sunflowers like these for a while because they are so darn cute!

I tried this Pimiento Cheese on our boat ride Saturday and promptly went to pick some up for our appetizer last night at my in-laws. I bought it at Lowes but I haven't looked for it eleswhere yet. SO GOOD. It's a whole new level.

A little update on my Rodan + Fields business. So far I am loving it. I love hearing how these products are loved by SO many people {including myself}. I am giving the Acute Care a try this week...if you have never heard of it, people compare the results to botox for filling lines except this is a little patch that goes on your skin overnight. From the business standpoint side, you never want to be one of those annoying friends that is pestering- but at the same time you WANT your friends to bask in the glory of the results. So far, I have taken it slow but I am still doing really good for my first month! I am pleasantly surprised. By the way, I promised not to promote R+F  on my blog unless I was running a special- and if you are at all interested in the products I am offering a free sunless tanner if you sign up to be a Preferred Customer today. One day only! Email me with any questions:)

I am off to do Monday things and continue on our entry way! And thanks to everyone who weighed in on my pillow debate. I think I have a winning combination!! xo.

Living Room Pillows: Debate and Help

Living Room Pillows

This room continues to give me fits- does anyone else have a room like that? Here is an update on the status since I showed you this last time:

I went back and forth with the pillows in the first design and they just didn't feel like me. In my mind, I want a neutral palette but every time I look for throw pillows I am leaning towards color and pattern. As much as I want neutral I guess I just crave color!? Right now, I am really happy with the above pillows. The one must is the leopard- I guess since we are approaching fall it just feels right. The green velvet is a stretch for me, but maybe it could be a lumbar pillow for just a touch. I'm also thinking ahead towards Christmas and how that will play out. I adore the pink linen and greek key, don't you? So, so pretty

In other news, I ripped that jute rug out of the house on Wednesday. {See here for my post on the rug debate} I literally could not stand the shedding, the dogs wallowing in it and all that mess. It just seemed...dirty. Yuck. Even though bare floors are not ideal, it feels so much fresher and I think it will be motivating for finding a new rug. I am leaning towards an indoor/outdoor rug. It doesn't sound as cozy as a nice plush rug but it sounds ideal for our family and two dogs {that like to ruin my rugs}!

As soon as I can get toys cleaned up for 5 minutes I will take some real time pictures for you all. Do you have any great sources for pillows? What are your thoughts on my combination?
Have a wonderful weekend!

Wishlist Wednesday

I thought it would be fun to start a new series- every Wednesday I will list what I am currently loving and lusting over. This week it is all about blues and blacks. Suddenly, I am craving fall and the clothing that comes with it! I would like to say bye-bye to the humidity for a while, wouldn't you?

The Greenbrier in Photos

As most of you all know, we took an amazing vacation to the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia in July. My sweet, generous in-laws surprised us with the news of the trip last Christmas. I have been here prior 3 times before throughout my childhood and have wonderful memories of the grand experience. Needless to say, I couldn't wait to get back. This is a true photo overload, but I promise you there were -a ton- more I left off. I hope you enjoy!

Our humble abode.

We headed right out to the picturesque pool overlooking the golf course and breathtaking mountain views.

Garden lovers- you would love it here.

Watching our golfers tee off on the Championship course.

Meanwhile, the girls headed for the spa.

I spent a lot of free times wandering the halls, snapping photos.

Princess Grace in the background...

Carriage rides are available all day long.

The main dining room in all its glory...

Ginger Jars...my love language.

Downstairs holds more shops, a few restaurants and the Casino. Signature palm leaf wallpaper is here in full effect, so striking.

More wandering around with my camera...

No stone is left unturned...look at that classic iron railing.

A little blurry photo of us outside Drapers for lunch...

You can find palm carpet here lining the hallways too. The most comfortable shoes, I might add.

Happy Hour on the terrace.

Dessert every night, of course!

What I refer to as the Kate Spade room. Gimme. Gimme. Gimme.

Now THAT. is a cornice board.

You have to look up or you will miss more fine details. Intricate, delicate, grand chandeliers with more detailing on the ceiling than you've ever seen.

These prints are framed in the girliest, cutest bathroom ever. Inspiration right here.

Another one of my favorite rooms!

I'm obsessed with this painting- I wish I knew more about it.

On one of our last days we took a long hike through the property.

Many "Happy Hours" at the Greenbrier in Carleton Varney's bar....

Pausing for some pictures on our way to dinner...

Vacay wore this sweet boy out!

Here are some iphone snaps as well...

 Carleton Varney's office...

Gone with the Wind chandelier...

He didn't want to leave either...

Whew! What a recap- hope you all enjoyed! Have you even been to the Greenbrier?
